One of the most common queries we get from potential students is…

‘What is the difference between you and ITEC? How come their courses are longer and cheaper? Does your training match theirs?’

So in a nutshell, here is the difference between what we deliver as an independent training school, compared to a big organisation like ITEC.

Are they the same course?

Yes, and no. The end result of you having completed your Level 3 Diploma and being able to work as a highly skilled, professional massage therapist is exactly the same. What’s different is how we go about it!

Here’s just a few of the things we prioritise…

  • Small groups of a maximum of 8 students instead of large groups.

  • Blended learning allowing you to do your theory at home in your own time instead of hours of classroom theory.

  • Full emphasis on hands on, practical training instead of reading and book work study.

  • All assessments and grading judged on practical work, not writing assignments and written exams.

  • Fully residential, immersive, retreat style learning experience instead of multiple weekends spread over many weeks/years

  • A manageable amount of genuine case studies over, well, a lot of case studies just to bulk up hours!

Hayley P

“Having now done this training, I can now fully appreciate the depth of study compared to other courses I have done in the past.”

Jill C

“Honestly, I am blown away by Amy’s skills, and what feels like endless, knowledge. I did a massage training with ITEC many years ago and there is truly no comparison.”

Is Massage Training UK training a fully accredited course like ITEC?

Yes! 100%! We are an internationally accredited training school that meet the highest standards. At the end of your training, and the completion of your case studies, you will be a fully qualified and insurable massage therapist able to be employed, work as the in house therapist on retreats or start up your own massage therapy business and become self employed.

Why is the ITEC course so much longer?

The simple answer is that the theory element of your training is done in the classroom, including your Anatomy & Physiology modules that take, a lot of time! We run our training as a blended learning meaning you do your modules online, at home in your own time with our support remotely, so that our 8 day training is dedicated to being completely practical and hands on, start to finish! We also don’t bulk our hours up with unnecessary hours of case studies.

How come your training is more expensive?

We are a small, independent training school, not a big organisation. We run just four trainings a year with a maximum of only eight students on each. That means we can tailor each training to be more bespoke to the unique needs of each of our students. Further more, our trainings run as fully immersive, residential, retreat style learning experiences so your costs also include accommodation and three delicious meals a day. Although the cost may seem high, we have made sure that EVERYTHING you need to complete your Level 3 Diploma is included. Your student insurance, certificates, coursebooks and all of your modules are included.

Can I go on to do further trainings and CPD with this course?

Yes! Of course! Most of our students go on to do specialist trainings such as Oncology, Massage for Menopause and Myofascial Release. We are more than happy to recommend you great trainings that will enhance your skills and offerings.
